Welcome to South School!
South School is situated near the corner of Main and Summer Street in Stoneham, Massachusetts. South School is a wonderful learning community of 16 Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Five Classrooms of 337 terrific students and 55 hardworking and dedicated staff.
South School is fortunate enough to have Stop & Shop Coporation as its business partner. Stop & Shop has donated over $4300 per year for 7 years to South School, providing funding for the highly successful Homework Help Program, where students in Grades 3-5 recieve extra help on their homework from their teacher. South School would like to thank Stop & Shop for their generosity, and to local Stoneham Store Manager Dom Mondi for his numerous donations of bakery items, water, flowers and decorations over the years.

This year South School Grades K-5 will be participating in the Open Circle program. Based at the Stone Center at Wellesley College, The Open Circle Curriculum is used in many communities in the New England and the Northeast. Open Circle is a social compentency program that teaches students how to develop and maintain positive relationships in school and in their lives. Children arrange their seats into an open circle twice a week for roughly twenty minutes, while the teacher leads the students through a year long curriculum that focuses on team work, how to resolve problems in positive ways, deal with stressful situations, and how to be a good friend. This will enhance their ability to successfully work in groups and be a proactive, postive person. Research has shown that the program reduces
conflicts and actually increases students time on learning in school. South School is excited to be part of the Open Circle Program.
